Grandaddy, Just Like The Fambly Cat

Yes, The Music Slut just got our hands on the latest and last Grandaddy record, Just Like The Fambly Cat, and as expected, it’s amazing (although Jen might disagree).

I’ve only seen Grandaddy live ONCE, back in 2000 opening for Coldplay at Radio City. I really disliked them back then but slowly grew to love all albums/tracks the band has released.

I’m sad to hear this is going to be the end of the road for them. However, if they were going to leave us, this is the perfect note to go out on. The hour-long LP runs the gamut from pretty to intense to completely oddball. So, pretty much, it’s a typical Grandaddy album, in all its glory.

“Summer.. It’s Gone” is an early contender for best track on the album. It’s also a song I will definitely repeat this week during what could be, the rainiest week in NYC history (check out this forecast!!).

Here’s a track that serves as sort of an interlude, “Oxygen/Aux Send” (yousendit)

For more Grandaddy discussion, check out what Skye had to say a few months back, way before Fambly Cat’s official release.
