Yikes! I just took a hop (skip and jump excluded) over to Craigslist to see if the rumors I heard were true, and sadly they are. Seems like $42 plus Ticketbastard surcharges (making the grand total OVER $50! a ticket) for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah @ Hammerstein Ballroom just didn’t strike New Yorkers’ nerves the same way the bookers of the event may have thought it would.
Even the last minute additions of Final Fantasy and Bob Mould are not stopping scalpers and fans alike (who I assume bought too many on the initial sale date anticipating a sell-out) from selling tickets for as little as $20 each!! Perhaps Irving would have been more appropriate, even if they did play last New Year’s there as well. Thoughts on the matter, readers?
we’d been hoping to hop on a last-minute cheap flight south, but looks like it might not happen. unless something pops up in the next 8.5 hours, ill be at mates of state…if so, ill try to stop by and say hi to you guys beforehand.
