With a sound that effortlessly coalesces laptop pop, shoegaze, post-rock, electro & trip-hop, School Of Seven Bells’ brilliant debut LP, Alpinisms, was positively one of my favorite albums of 2008. As eager as I was to catch SO7B during this year’s CMJ Festival, I (sadly) witnessed a massively abbreviated set due to a myriad of sound issues and time constraints. In other words, last night served as my official introduction to the trio’s live show and it was nothing short of genius (my only suggestion would be to ditch the overzealous strobe lights). Performing nearly every track from the aforementioned release, School Of Seven Bells has secured a very warm place in my heart. SO7B recently recorded a set for The Spinner.
