Last night marked my fourth live encounter with the Scottish grandfathers of post-rock. Each time I’ve seen Mogwai, I’ve been amazed, flabbergasted & downright floored. Monday’s Brooklyn gig provided more of the same brilliance. In fact, it may just have been the strongest of the bunch (standing mere inches from mastermind, Stuart Braithwaite, surely didn’t hurt matters whatsoever). Drawing from each of their stellar releases (with the exclusion of 1999’s Come On Die Young), Mogwai’s (extensively loud) two-hour set was damn near perfect. View all dates on their current North American trek here. Mogwai will make an appearance at APW Festival 2009 in August.
