It’s not everyday that you get to see one of your favorite musicians on a boat (capacity: 125) underneath the Brooklyn Bridge on a perfect spring evening. Yesterday, all of the aforementioned scenarios rang true. The intimate gig highlighted the bulk of Chris Garneau’s upcoming sophomore release, El Radio, and it was positively stunning through and through. Joined by Scary Mansion, the ninety minute set was one of the most passionate, intense & moving performances I’ve seen in quite some time. Download Chris Garneau’s contribution to TMS Hearts Moz (’Suffer Little Children’) here. He’ll tour China next month. Visit Chris Garneau at his official MySpace page.

This was an nice show, torturing me with his new album that is still over a month away. I must say the Françoise Hardy cover was a pleasant surprise. I feel that El radio has more of a quirky feel matching his character more so. It is hard to believe that both music for tourist and C-sides are over three years old now as much as i love him i must say thank god for new material. I must have played In the afternoon off of youtube i feel like it is in my music library.
On another note on of me ranting Scary Mansion is the hybrid of Chris and Cat Power. What a combination, possibly worth hearing a whole set and the record release.
It was a unique and most enjoyable show and Chris is a huge talent. I heard there was an cool after-party!
