Great Northern’s front woman, Rachel Stolte, may resemble Zooey Deschanel (or possibly Courtney Cox as Qbertplaya pointed out) but she sounds a lot more like a hybrid of Alison Krauss and Alison Mosshart (of The Kills & The Dead Weather). Focusing heavily on their new LP, Remind Me Where The Light Is, the Los Angeles based act melds together the best elements of dream-pop, shoegaze and early-90s riot grrrl to create a sound entirely their own.
