It’s not everyday that you get the opportunity to catch a legendary artist at a legendary venue on a legendary evening. However, last night Jen and I were two of the 6000 lucky folks in attendance to witness Leonard Cohen’s poignant and gracious 3+ hour set. Words can’t properly do this evening justice. Seeing Leonard Cohen in the flesh was, simply put, a dream come true. I can’t urge you enough to try everything in your power to experience the magic at one of his upcoming North American gigs. Live In London is out now.

MP3: Leonard Cohen – Ain’t No Cure For Love

I was there last night as well and it was fantastic. You can watch a video clip here:

Crowd was rather stiff but finally crumbled to their feet with “Chelsea Hotel.” I don’t think a better band could have been put together. Leonard quipped here and there about his age but with all his kneeling down and hop-skipping off stage I was envious as he is 20 years my senior. He did some flat out poetry which was a special treat and welcomed. My 13yo son actually wanted a tee-shirt when all was said and done, and swore ten times he would really wear it. Great show. A privilege. Leonard was Leonard, and I adored him Then and adore him now; there really aren’t the words…
I saw some bitching about ticket prices. Beacon? Radio City? These are intimate venues. Not as intimate as the Bottom Line, where I saw Mr. Leonard Cohen before he even had back up singers. He could have done Madison Square Garden where the acoustics are so awful I actually walked out on Bowie and Springsteen in my lifetime. So there.
We love you, Leonard, and thank you.
I was at the Sunday show. Amazing! I am so greatful that my husband did not allow me to talk him out of buying tickets. $300 for two seats doesn’t exactly fit into our non existent entertainment budget. After hearing “Dance Me To the End of Love “, Leonards’s opening song, however, I turned to my husband and told him we had certainly gotten our money’s worth. My husband was 100% correct in saying it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The sounds was amazing, the musicians and singers were practically perfect. My only regret is that my father who had turned me on to Leonard is not still with us to have joined me.
When I was 16 I made my boyfriend listen to Suzanne over and over again.
Now, 39 years later, and I’m still mad, crazy in love with Leonard and his songs. I was lucky enough to go to both the Beacon and the Radio City shows. Definately the experiences of a lifetime.
Thank you, Leonard
