It’s not everyday that Patrick Wolf decides to play a one-off acoustic set in New York City. Last night’s seated show was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. As Patrick bounced back and forth between the piano and his wide array of stringed instruments, his performance was sheerly breathtaking. Drawing heavily from his forthcoming senior effort, The Bachelor, Patrick found time to delve into his back catalog for a few moments. From his previous releases, he tackled Lycanthropy‘s ‘Pigeon Song’, the title track to Wind In The Wires and The Magic Position‘s ‘Bluebells’, its title track & ‘Augustine’. The gig was quite possibly one of the best live shows I’ve ever had the privilege of attending. Visit Patrick Wolf at his MySpace page.

So good indeed.
I really hope he’ll extend his Gig list and bring The Bachelor to Spain…
Glad you had a glorious time!!

I was sitting right across the table from you at the show (the girl with half a setlist at the end) – I just remembered to check out your review and pictures. They’re both lovely! (And the pictures give a good approximation of what I was seeing, which is lucky, since my camera had to break a week before this show.)
I couldn’t agree with your review more – the show was breathtaking, amazing, everything I’d hoped for and more. And also likely the best concert I’ll have the fortune of attending.
Great pictures! I completely agree about this show! It was really special and I’m so sad that it’s over and will never happen again. I am thrilled that we’ll be able to see him again next month, however! And I’ll have my technical difficulties worked out with my camcorder by then so I’ll capture an entire show!
