1. Can you briefly tell us why Stellastarr* decided to go with Civilized as the title to LP3?
It was originally the name a song that didn’t make the album. But we liked the contrast it made when we paired it with the album artwork.
2. How do you feel that the Brooklyn scene has changed since the release of your debut full-length back in 2003?
It has definitely grown exponentially. I live in Williamsburg which has basically been taken over by musicians. Almost every bar also has live music. It is a great place to wander and get inspired.

3. Do you have a favorite NYC venue?
The Bowery Ballroom still holds its place in my heart.
4. Thematically speaking, Civilized differs greatly from Stellastarr*’s first two records. Can you elaborate on this?
This one was specifically written for the love of making music. We all need music in our lives. The rough times we have been through in the past couple of years have just reinforced this notion. We wrote the songs without any boundaries and really just had fun.
5. ‘My Coco’ is still met with rapturous approval when we hear it out or DJ it ourselves. Did you realize it was a classic right away?
Not quite right away but when we started playing it out live in our sets. It quickly became a crowd favorite.
6. Twitter: love it or hate it?
I have mixed feelings. It isn’t something that I want to do personally but I can see it has benefits.
7. Following your upcoming North American journey, what does the rest of the year entail for Stellastarr*?
Well, that is up in the air at the moment. We want to support this album as much as we can. We hope to get over to Europe soon and hopefully Mexico. We also hope to hit some of the markets in the US that we missed on this tour.
8. Are there any misconceptions about the band that you’d like to clear up once and for all?
I AM NOT AFRAID OF ANY OF YOU! OK, maybe a little, that guy in the back with the shifty eyes.

Much love for Stellastarr* and Mandy! The new album is a classic that compliments their debut masterpiece perfectly.
over the weekend I saw the review of this album in Time Out New York… it read like the reviewer had no ears. I was embarassed for the magazine that they allow such amateur writers appear in their magazine.
the music slut 4evah!
