Check out George Langford’s fantastic selections below. Visit Javelin on MySpace. Catch Javelin at our 5 Year Anniversary gig in NYC on 7/29!
Hammer Time – SISSY NOBBY: Broadcasting live outside Home Depot? I need a screw driver? We’re about to go to Loews with it? She needs a staple gun? There are so many things about this jam that complete me.
Million Dollar Bill – WHITNEY HOUSTON: Okay, 2009 is apparently on my brain right now. Swizz Beatz chops up “We’re Getting Stronger” by Loleatta Holloway, enlists Alicia Keys on writing duties & has Whitney come in & sing her ass off. It kind of sounds like she’s wearing dentures if you listen carefully. This one was on repeat on a recent trans-Atlantic flight.

Smoke & Ride – DO OR DIE (DJ SCREW): Tom & I were in Houston this spring & stopped in at Screwed Up Records & Tapes, bought a stack of music & proceeded to have the greatest drive through Southwest Texas. Screw had the ability to move certain tracks to surprisingly transcendent places.
Eu Sou Como Voce E – LO BORGES: Off the moody self-titled album. I spent a stretch of time in Salvador da Bahia several years ago and Lo was right there with me. Listen to it at the end of an extremely hot day with a beer, preferably after something disorienting has happened.
Mercy – LUCKY DRAGONS: Listen to it at the end of an extremely hot day with a beer, preferably after nothing disorienting has happened. Pay attention to yourself around two minutes in.
Pink Cashmere – PRINCE: I’ve been exploring this era of Prince heavily as of late. Did you know he allegedly had quarter-inch jacks installed in the walls in all the rooms throughout Paisley Park so he could plug in and record whenever the mood hit him?
Crown On The Ground – SLEIGH BELLS: If you think you can do it better than this, you’re very mistaken.
