One of the seminal music websites and communities on the world wide web is Drownedinsound.com and they are turning 10. To celebrate, they are throwing a whole host of parties in the UK, from London to Sheffield, and rightfully so. If are are like this writer and live in NYC, you can tune into BBC6 On October 17th (time unknown) to listen to two hours of ten years of music hand picked by the founder Sean.

To help celebrate this legendary venues 30th Anniversary re-opening, I’ve been invited to curate a bill of our favourite new bands. Come see STRICKEN CITY + LET’S BUY HAPPINESS + BEAR MASK + YGT, four of my brightest hopes for 2011, more details here and here on FaceBook.

The Barfly, Camden, London
To celebrate BLOOD RED SHOES’ sold-out London show down the road, we’re throwing a GRUNGE-THEMED special party for the pair of ‘em. Partly as they’re DiS Recordings alumni but also because some of DiS’ funnest nights have ended up taking place at this venue. Entry is FREE if you dress-up in your finest Grunge garb and Laura-Mary has promised all the best bits of the K Records and Sub Pops catalogue for her DJ set. Gonna run late, so come down and spill some drinks on your Converse.

Skate Central, Sheffield
We’ve only gone and got our favourite live band of the past 10 years, NO AGE to come on over from LA to play Rollerpolooza 2. As the name suggests, this is a gig on a roller-skate rink. The LA duo will be joined by Pulled Apart by Horses, Male Bonding and more. Full details here.
