The Summer of 2010 was an indie country summer for me. I found myself listening to and really enjoying a lot of artists such as These United States, Ha Ha Tonka, Jonny Corndawg and Megafaun. On September 14th, Megafaun released a “mini album” called Volunteers and sent out into the blogosphere “Carolina Days.”

“Carolina Days” is a musical ode to the band’s home state of North Carolina but truth be told, I wasn’t feeling it. The song has too much of the Eagles or a soft country rock song, cross over song from the early 80′s. And yes *shudder* it even reminded me of mainstream country artists like Keith Urban or Brad Paisley. But, Megafaun’s impressive 2009 album Gather, Form and Fly is enough to forgive one not-so-great track.
