My first stop for CMJ Day 3 was Bowery Electric where I caught Savoir Adore. Savoir Adore is one of my favorite Brooklyn bands with their sweet, new wave, quirky fairy tale sound. Their set this evening was solid with the only negative thing being that they were plagued by sound problems for the first two songs- which went UNnoticed by most of the audience. Savior Adore played off the problems though with their infectious charm and by the third song everything was ironed out.

My next stop for CMJ Day 3 was the Living Room and to paraphrase Jon Landau, I have seen the future of rock and roll and its name is Buke and Gass! This duo, consisting of Aron Sanchez on percussion and guitar and Arone Dyer on classical guitar, blew me away in every positive way possible. Their music is like a treat for your mind and your ears, it takes you on a mystical magical journey. The best way to describe Buke and Gass’ music is: Mozart and Vivaldi mixed in with Sleater Kinney and the Sex Pistols- so amazing on every level.
Tomorrow evening and Saturday finally bring me out to my own turf Brooklyn! Till then kids!

Speaking of Sleater-Kinney, I was out of town & didn’t see much of CMJ this year, but Corin Tucker & band put on a rocking set at Maxwell’s Saturday night. I hope to catch her for a longer set at Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday.
I’ve heard a couple of songs by Buke & Gass… intriguing sound, even though their name makes me think of an antacid or a law firm.
