Mogwai! New album, 2011 tour

Hot on the heels of Special Moves comes news that Mogwai will be releasing a new record in February 2011.

Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will will be released on Feb 15th; the group’s 7th album, it’s been recorded with Paul Savage (producer of debut Young Team) at Chem19 and mixed at Mogwai’s own Castle of Doom.

According to the group the new record “showcases Mogwai’s relentless devotion to duty and refusal to compromise sonically with it’s sheer brutally and distinctive subtle beauty”.

I’ve been on a Mogwai kick ever since I got my copy of Special Moves. The Young Team reissue, CODY, Government Commissions, EP+6, The Hawk is Howling… all of these (and the rest) have been on heavy rotation chez Skye. So along with everyone else in the known universe, I’m absolutely delighted by this news.

A limited edition version of Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will will be available and will include a 26 minute long piece called ‘The Singing Mountain’ recorded for Douglas Gordon and Olaf Nicolai’s ‘Monument for Forgotten Future’ installation in Essen, Germany

MOGWAI ARE TOURING THE WORLD! Hurrah!

One of the most exciting things about the tour is that there will be a limited number of “season tickets” which will allow entry to all 5 Scottish tour dates.

There will be a limited number of Mogwai Season Tickets allowing fans admittance to all 5 Scottish shows in January 2011 for a total cost of £65. More details on www.seetickets.com. Tickets for the new dates and Season Tickets go on sale Friday 29th October 2010 at 9am.
