We are so happy to host the world premiere of the new video from Boston band The Lights Out for their song “Gottagetouttahere.”
Last year The Lights Out, headlined a showcase at CMJ and has this past year signed a licensing deal with MTV Networks, was featured in an ABSOLUT® Vodka commercial and opened up Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots’ season. The band is currently touring in support of their debut full-length, Color Machine, and new EP, Rock Pony.

“Gottagetouttahere,” is a frenetic song about conflict and escape. We came up with four scenarios anyone would want to get away from, and a band member acted out each one. Rish’s [lead vocals, guitar] is a “douchebag party.” You walk into a house party expecting a good time, and are crushed to find a sea of jerks. Matt’s [bass, vocals] is a lousy job. The work keeps piling up, the copier breaks and 5:00 can’t come soon enough. Jesse’s [drums, vocals] is getting accused of cheating by your lady. Text messages and condom wrappers say this guy is a scumbag, but he always has a good explanation. Mine [lead guitar, vocals] is being a couch potato. You’re holed up in your apartment, eating junk food, watching zombie movies and trying out undercooked song ideas, and your audience of one canine is pushing you out the door.
Combine that with live footage from one of our shows, and you have a good idea of life in our van. We may sail a Viking ship up your ear canals, drink your beer and put holes in your wall, but we’ll also offer our spare set of earplugs, restock your fridge and make a run to Home Depot the next morning.
