Young and clever in a way that is reminiscent of The Strokes when they released their first ep, The Modern Age (1998-2001), is new band The Americans. With help from Sean Lennon, the group have released their gorgeous and smart video for single ‘Requiem’ from The White EP. Sean Lennon also co-produced and lends vocals to this immediately gripping song.
Of the obvious comparisons people will draw from the title of The White EP to The Beatles’ White Album, founding member and lead singer Charlie Klarsfeld told The Rock n Roll Report: “The title of our new record is more about letting the music speak for itself, and setting down a blank slate in the mind of the listener. There’s a lot going on with the arrangements and production, so it needs an open mind to digest it. In that way, it is also a nod to the incredible dynamics of the Beatles record. Our record isn’t particularly genre specific either.”
The Americans will hold their ep release party November 12th in NYC show at Rockwood Music Hall, though the ep won’t actually come out until February. Doors open at 9:30 and the show is free.
