Coming early next month will be a collection of La Roux’s b-sides, remixes and acoustic songs and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I loved the eponymous debut, and this will surely fill a gap before the second record. Hurrah! &c.
In addition to things like a version of “In for the Kill” featuring Kanye West, the download-only release will feature video, photographs, and artwork (click through for the tracklisting).
Now, I’m positive that loads of this material will be great and totally enhance the La Roux experience. But I’ve got to ask: is every record now going to get a companion volume collecting the b-sides etc? Maybe it’s just me being terrified of the consequences for my wallet, but this kind of thing used to be fun when it collected the best ancillary material from a group of records by an artist. Now that I’m faced with the potential for a bonus record coming out for each album, I’m kind of combining a feeling of “huh?” with a dash of concern about cynical cash-ins. I guess all I’m sayin’ is that those had better be decent remixes, La Roux! (Click through to check out the tracklisting for Gold Edition, which will be out on 8th February via Amazon and iTunes).
Watch La Roux pretend to be quiet and calm for the duration of “In for the Kill”:
