Post Grammy win, Esperanza Spalding hasn’t been enduring quite the “WTF?!” treatment that Arcade Fire did after their Best Album title but still, this little known to the wide wide world artist did receive some sideways glances when she won her award for Best New Artist this year- which by the way was the first ever to be won by a jazz musician. Blank Dogs’ new lp Land and Fixed came out last month on Captured Tracks- which is frontman Mike Sniper’s own label. After beginning as one rather enigmatic dude, Blank Dogs is, according to Sniper, officially now a band. And as a band, will be holding their record release party this Friday (TOMORROW) with special guests Velvet Davenport, Swimsuit and Dead Gaze at Glasslands in Brooklyn.
