Today’s official message reads: *Hey hey hey! We just put up one of the songs on our new EP that we made with the fantastic Kippi Kaninus and Maggi (the drummer). The EP will hopefully be available online in the future. We are trying to set up a web store but it is taking time. A lot of time actually, sorry. But meanwhile we will sell the EP at our coming shows in Italy and in some stores in Iceland. We are planning on recording a full-length album with Kippi and Maggi so this is a taste of what is coming!*
The Icelandic quartet shares the following on their official site: *We’re composing a couple of film scores for a couple of great films, due to be released late this year or early next year. Having plenty of fun with that. Our plans for the summer have been settled now. We have decided to join our good friends in Sigur Ros on their tours around the world in June, July and August, playing strings and possibly some other bits in their set.* Learn more about Amiina here.
While Jen & I were busy CMJing, a slew of amazing acts took to Reykjavik and blew away the tens of thousands in attendance for Iceland Airwaves. One of those bands was Iceland’s very own, Amiina. Check out their superb performance of ‘Glamur’ in the clip below. Learn more about Amiina here at their official site. Amiina MP3 at bottom of post.
Here’s the info that’s been passed to us: “The band will announce details of a very, very special single in the forthcoming future. The A-side will feature a guest vocal appearance from one of music’s biggest legends and is expected to be confirmed shortly for release in the wake of the tour.” Any guesses on who it could be? Stevie Wonder? David Byrne? Britney? Take a stab in the comments.

*We are very sorry to inform you that due to illness within the band, we have had to postpone our North American tour schedule to start in Washington DC next week. We obviously didn’t want this to happen and are very disappointed, but we will soon be over, before you know it! Thank you to those who have already bought tickets. Of course you will get a full refund, please go to the point of purchase. However, we do have some cool things coming up, including a long tour in Europe in October. You’ll hear about the other stuff from here and our myspace first, so keep visiting!
It must be Iceland appreciation day here at The Music Slut. First, Benni Hemm Hemm and now Amiina. See below for the band’s forthcoming North American tour stops (their largest to date!) throughout the month of September.

Waiting... One of the things that gets under my skin is having to wait for a music download to finish. I usually end up playing something silly, like online bingo or some other flash game, while I'm trying to kill some time. It's an easy way to kill 10 minutes while waiting.
