Day four of SXSW, the last hurrah. SXSW is always a manically insane event but the sheer volume of bands and vendors and mobs of ‘fans’ just looking for a free drink was overwhelming this year. I mean, any year people end up getting tazed at a Death from Above 1979 show you got to admit is pretty crazy. And now we hear that SXSW is considering outlawing all non-official events next year? Um, am I mistaken or did the majority of these head injuries, barricade stormings and said tazing incidents not happen at official events? Also, you’re not the boss of me. And I never tazed anyone at any of my unofficial parties.

Datarock are back on tour and pimping a new and typically danceworthy single called ‘Catcher in the Rye,’ which they have dubbed, “the most extravagant single in history.”

This extravagant single is indeed that if you purchase their specially made USB stick: “The single will come as a designer toy with a USB stick that features 110 tracks, 1500 photos taken at their shows in 33 countries, 20 music videos, and Never Say Die a brand new hour-long concert film. The USB features the EP, the new album Music For Synchronization, both of their previous albums with bonus tracks, the new Lost and Found b-sides and rarities compilation, 15 new instrumentals, and the 40 track remix album Mixed Up.”

In case you can’t handle all that, the single will also be released as a digital 5 track EP (or you can just download it below).
