The trio posted the following on their official blog.
*Hi all: So we’ve been hauled up 4 some time in the studio. We’ve done 8 tracks. We will be recording another 8 tracks so we still have some way to go. Again thanks for all your words of encouragement, it means a lot to us. When we finish this album and enter the “touring bubble like world” (I’m hearing a lot of requests to play in your cities / towns – noted!! We will try and visit as many places as possible. The studio is a little farmhouse barn in cheshire we did some mixing in RAK studios owned by the legendary producer Mickie Most. John Leckie has since moved on due to previous commitments (he’s now recording with African artist Baaba Maal). Co-production wise, we’ve hooked up with an amazing up and coming producer called Dan Austin (Cherry Ghost / Massive Attack). We immediately clicked. As a result the recording is very intuitive, so the mood is really positive and upbeat in the doves camp – Andy is about to become a dad for the first time so were all really excited for him – obviously were taking 3 to 4 weeks out of recording ’cause Andy will be in baby mode. We will all be writing new tunes in the spare time, it’s a good break to write fresh material…. errr sorry no album release this year ’cause it’s got to be right… we do appreciate you being patient. xxxxxxxxx*

LEGENDARY PRODUCER AT THE HELM. WHO’S NAME WE DONT WANT TO DIVULGE YET. WE’RE SOUNDING TIGHT, IT’S BEEN FUN PLAYING WITH THE REBEL AGAIN AS HE’S BEEN BUSY WRITING HIS 3RD LP WHICH SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLY BEAUTIFUL.
CAN’T WAIT FOR U TO HEAR THE RESULTS
LOVE DOVESBANDXXXX*
I have no doubts that their fourth full-length will be another beauty.

Our roving correspondent Skye is, as we speak, unshowered, sunburned and yearning for a piss at T in The Park here in Scotland. He has this to say:
9:14am “Morning from T in the Park! It’s a hot billion degrees, and the campsite is sweltering in the Scottish July heat. Last night all the campers were regaled by powerful tent based renditions of the Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Oh My God’, ‘Born to Be a Dancer’, plus a medley of songs be The Killers and the Foo Fighters, among others. The real bands have a lot to live up to today! More updates to come for Music Slut if Jen is nice enough to post them!” yeah yeah, cycled into work in the hot sun just to post this!
10:54am “Scottish people once again demonstrate their ability to ruin God’s own country. There’s already so much litter, the seagulls have started to look like something out of Hitchcock’s The Birds.”
11:19am “Should I see Razorlight of Sons and Daughters tomorrow? I’ve seen Sons and Daughters, but I do think they are awesome!“ Well guys what do you think? Comment or send an email in by tomorrow noontime to send Skye to either Razorlight or Sons and Daughters.
1:42PM “In King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent for Lewis’s ‘Poor Old Ben’, whose articulate and sensitive melodies are not afraid to rawk out, not unlike REM, but some excellent tunes.” I didn’t understand much of that either.
10:34PM “In the Futures tent with Humanzi, Dubliners with a good bit of attitude and a quality brand of punk rock. Cocky great song called ‘Mrs You’re a Fool.’ Manic onstage energy.
Joss Stone. Has a lot more stage presence that you think. I’m really enjoying this!”
10:35PM “Do My Bad Things. Eclectic 9 piece, popular indie favourites, doing nothing to disappoint their fans, but nothing really to excite me. Although they do have a pretty electric stage presence.
No time to write while pogoing in tight circumstances. Audioslave rocked, and Embrace were triumphant. In fact, Embrace finally have enough songs to justify main stages at festivals, which they couldn’t before. Jolly Good!” I’ve never much liked Audioslave. I saw then in 2002 at the HFStival and thought they were pretty blah then. I saw them perform a couple of songs today and still, I just don’t really like them. Though I give mad props and my undying respect to Tom Morella, I’ve been trying to get into Rage for a while now because his message is so great. As for Embrace. I’m sure their live show was pretty great like Skye said it’s just that on TV they showed one song, ‘Gravity.’ Before the song the lead guy says that it was written by Chris Martin and right then and there is where he lost me. Throughout the entire song all I could think was how much it sounded like a Coldplay song and how much better Chris would have been at singing it, at least he would have been on key.
10:36PM “The Killers were…Well, awesome, the crowd really going for old and new material. Though I thought the new stuff was a bit weaker, myself. Got to watch some of this performance on BBC1. And what can I say, I adore Brandon Flowers. Could he dress any cuter? They played ‘Indie Rock and Roll’, which I love but wish they would up the tempo to a bit, and ‘Smile like you mean it.’ Out of all the acts at T in the Park this is the one I would have most liked to see I think.
10:43PM “So The Doves were excellent, a great performance. Didn’t see much of it from the back, but the crowd really enjoyed it. James Brown failed to come on before we left to see the Foo Fighters, who were pretty much workman like. And so ends day 1…I’m bloody knackered. I’m all for James Brown, I mean the man is a legend, but the thing with him is that he is NUTS. A nut that thinks he actually is the Godfather of Soul. Saw the BBC team interview him and he needed two handlers, his wife and manager, most likely to try and curb the shite that was coming from his mouth. He doesn’t play music anymore, he puts on a Vegas Show.
Other acts of the day that I had the chance to catch on TV were The Magic Numbers singing ‘Forever Lost.’ Really enjoyed this and their crowd was just so enthusiastic. However, all I could think about while I watched was, gawd they need a makeover especially the bassist. Vain I know but honest. Super Furry Animals singing ‘Ring Around the World’ were absolutely brilliant. The lead singer looks a bit like Christ, anyone else notice this? The Coral were of course lovely and James Skelly is so adorable I just want to smoosh his face.
And more commentary to come no doubt. For UK people you can check out the concert on BBC3 from 7 until 11 tonight. Not me though, for some reason god doesn’t want me to watch BBC3. Bastard.
