Here are the deets: *Shirley Manson, leader singer of the pop band Garbage, has taken a regular role next season on Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Scottish musician will play Catherine Weaver, the chief executive of a cutting edge high tech company, the trade paper reported. Sarah Connor Chronicles is returning for a second season in the fall after launching in mid season as the highest rated new scripted series of the 2007/2008 season. It stars Lena Headey as Sarah Connor, Thomas Dekker as her son, John Connor and Summer Glau as terminator Cameron Phillips.* Visit Garbage on MySpace.

The Garbage frontwoman explains on her MySpace blog: *”I played some of the stuff to the record label not long ago and they described it as being very noir. At the time, I took the comment as being a huge compliment. That they liked the intensity of my material. But then I realized it wasn’t intended as a compliment. But I’m 41, I’m a woman not a kid. I have no interest in making silly pop music and I don’t want to wear a silly sexy outfit and sell myself short. I’m sure it will all get sorted out in the end. But I do think record companies, in general, have different ideas about how they promote women. In the end, it is down to each and every woman to fight to be treated as an individual. I just want to be who I am.”*

With rumors swirling of a Shirley solo effort due by spring of ’08, I had no choice but to reminisce back to the mid-’90s.
This featured tune was a B-side to Garbage’s ‘Only Happy When It Rains’ single (which I purchased on cassette tape at The Wiz!) all the way back in the summer of 1995.
I hope you enjoy it today as much as I did at fourteen.
Much thanks to Miss Modernage for directing us to the following clip from Garbage’s Absolute Garbage DVD, in which Jack White and Shirley Manson chit-chat in the green room during a 2005 tour stop in Detroit. Enjoy a Version 2.0-era Garbage MP3 at bottom.
Here’s the official clip for ‘Tell Me Where It Hurts’ from Garbage’s upcoming best-of collection, Absolute Garbage (judge the album art here). Slutloyals: love it or hate it?
Old-school Garbage MP3: ‘Stupid Girl’
We’re highly disappointed with the cover art to Garbage’s upcoming best-of compilation, Absolute Garbage. For those out of the loop, the collection will feature a myriad of greatest hits including one new track, ‘Tell Me Where It Hurts’. For tracklist and a sneak peak into the new video hop over to ultimate fan site, Garbage Disco Box. Do you loathe the artwork as much as we do?
