Georgie James Calls It A Day

It’s with great sadness that we pass along this official statement: *After 3 years, Georgie James is calling it a day. We’re proud of the album we made and everything else that we were able to do during our time together. We are both working on our respective solo projects and hope to have albums out early next year. Thanks to everyone that helped our band over these past few years. Thanks to those who’ve listened to the music & come out to the shows. It’s greatly appreciated. See you around soon.* Read my review of Georgie James @ SXSW 2008 here.

Georgie James @ SXSW: Looks Like A Perfect Day

In the late afternoon/early evening of Day 2, I caught two enlightening (although completely different) sets at Austin’s famed venue, Emo’s. At 4:30, Los Campesinos! transfixed the capacity crowd with punk-inspired passion and at 5:20, Georgie James serenaded attendees with a handful of sweet lullabies. The DC-based act has been on my radar for quite some time, but up until last week, I failed miserably at catching the band’s live show. Thankfully, it was everything I had hoped for it to be: melodious, tender & beatific! Visit Georgie James on MySpace. Photo courtesy of Miss Katie Kramer.
