MP3: Blur – Song 2
The Spinning Top will see daylight on 5/11. In his own words: *The album is mainly an acoustic journey although there is, of course, some explosive electric guitar action. I wanted to show how exciting acoustic instruments can be, how dynamic and rich and heart-thumpingly raw they can sound at a time when acoustic music seems either too cute or too soppy. Obvious influences here are the amazing Martin Carthy, the late, great Davey Graham and the late, great John Martyn.*
In 2007, Graham had a stalker.
MP3: Blur – Song 2
Noel Gallagher (Oasis)
Graham Coxon (Blur)
Aziz Ibrahim (Stone Roses)
The album includes 21 tunes.
It clocks in at a mere 27 minutes.
The record is out on June 24th.

MP3: Paul Weller – Black…
Here’s the full story courtesy of New Musical Express (NME): *A series of digital radios signed by a variety of rock stars, including Noel Gallagher, Graham Coxon, Jet, Editors and the Manic Street Preachers are to be auctioned on-line to raise money for charity.
Pete Doherty, Queens Of The Stoneage and Paul Weller have also contributed to the fundraiser.
The auctions, which will take place in October on the Rockstar Radios website, will raise money for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, an organisation for providing music therapy for people throughout the UK.*
Learn more about the auction here. Read Editors’ response to the endless Interpol comparisons via this link.
Via Contact Music: *Former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON’s alleged stalker has been cautioned by police. The Song 2 hitmaker’s country house in Kent, England was trashed by crazed fan Sue Ellingham last month (Jul07) after she met Coxon at one of his gigs.
She also began posting abusive messages on his website and reportedly turned up at singer’s five-year-old daughter’s London school. A police spokesperson says, “We cautioned a woman for harassment and criminal damage.”*
Yikes!
MP3: Blur – Coffee & TV
Via Uncut: *Paul Weller and Graham Coxon are to release their first collaborations in July.
“This Old Town”, “Each New Morning” and “Black River” will be available as a download from July 2. A seven-inch single version is due on July 30, but you’ll have to move fast, since there’ll be only 5,000 copies to go round. Rumours continue to grow that Coxon will imminently be rejoining Blur. But while Damon Albarn concentrates on his Chinese Opera, Monkey, Coxon appears to have slipped over to the camp of their old enemies. Not only is Weller a close ally of Oasis, but drums are played on “This Old Town” by Zak Starkey, last seen backing up the Gallaghers.
Coxon, though, is an old mod. “As a long time admirer of Paul I never dared imagine getting a chance to work with him,” he says. “I was bricking it when we first met… but he is an absolute gent and a shockingly great singer and musician. It’s been a total pleasure.” Weller is equally lavish in his praise. “I’ve always been a big fan of Graham’s,” he says, “and love his work, so it was exciting for me to work on something new with him.” “This Old Town” is written by the pair of them, while “Each New Morning” is a Coxon song and “Black River” is one of Weller’s own. All tracks were produced by the duo and engineered by Charles Rees.*

Well, not full-time but he did do a fantastic job with the suit he’s wearing in this photo, don’t you agree? The Blur guitarist is looking like a hip English lit professor, I’m a mega fan of the style.
Want your very own? Act quick! These suits are limited edition – only 100 available (UK only)!
Graham explains: “Do you know Merc, the Mod fashion shop? They said to me a while ago, ‘Hey, why don’t you design a suit?’. And I thought about it and i considered the lack of suits that are actually quite nice, and i thought i’d have a go. I’ve chosen the cloth, the buttons, the angles of the pockets and the jacket.
His work has been titled ‘Graham Coxon for Merc’ and you can get the suit at the Merc store, if any still remain. The designer’s web site can be found here!
If they’re all sold out, have no fear, an ‘EL-COXO’ TOY figurine is in the works, via Merc, as well. Hey, if Damon can have one, so can Graham!
