I still have much love for the Kasabian boys but this latest set of quotes from guitarist/vocalist, Serge Pizzormo, takes egotistical to entirely new levels. Here’s a smattering of what he told The Sun this weekend.
“We’re having a good time and we’re going to continue to make music. Our place in the history of the music industry is truly wild.”
“People who sell records like Snow Patrol or Razorlight are on the radio all the time – we’re not. We sell albums because the kids get us.”
“We’re inspiring a new generation in the same way Bowie did thirty years ago. In 20 years time people will look back on us and marvel.”
Slutloyals: battle this one out in the comments.
Let’s hear it for bands beginning with the letter ‘K’! Learn more about Oxjam here or via some NME highlights: *The fest will see music fans put on 500 days of continuous music, raising an anticipated £1 mill to help Oxfam fight poverty around the world. Hot Chip, Kaiser Chiefs & Fatboy Slim are some of the 40,000 musicians expected to take part in the events, which will occur throughout October. XFM are to join forces with Oxfam to give £50,000 to young people to help them put on the fest. 200 event organisers will be awarded £2,250 towards the costs of the event.*

Via In The News: *Kasabian will be releasing a surprise EP this summer of new songs written & produced by guitarist/singer Serge Pizzorno. The band has performed at a host of major festivals this year, and will release the limited 10-inch vinyl on 9/3.
It will include the track Fast Fuse and a number of other songs the band have worked on since having time out of the studio. Pizzorno told the NME: “This was done in my house in a little room downstairs, just in front of a computer, I produced it myself.” The band said they wanted to release new music for fans who may think the group have disappeared into “arenas”… “This marks this summer and what we’re doing at the moment. There was no point in saving it … because we’ve got equally good songs for the album.”*
Kasabian – Processed Beats (acoustic)
This one’s pretty simple – the tune is a live & acoustic take on one of Kasabian’s biggest singles, from their ’04 eponymous debut. The album version of the track reached #17 on the UK charts and (more importantly) it’s always been one of my all-time favorite Kasabian ditties.
The Music Slut’s review of Kasabian’s headlining gig at NYC’s Webster Hall from last September, can be found here.
