Keane’s drummer, Richard Hughes, shares the following quote on the band’s official site: “We’re going to try and do something different with the next one. There’s a lot of interesting stuff coming out of America that’s… I mean, I’ve been listening to people like Dr. Dre for a long time.
I think ’2001”s a ridiculously amazing record and its probably the most played thing on my iPod. I love the sparseness of that, and the last record was really dense, it was full of stuff. So maybe we’ll try something that’s as empty as possible. There’s certainly elements of that that you could experiment with. You could try and be more minimal in your approach with instruments and try to get a bit more funk in there. We’ll see! Or it might just be a rock album – you know, I don’t know. But yeah, we’re going to try and do something different.”

This is getting out of control!
Here’s the official statement: *”It is with great regret that we confirm the cancellation of the Fflam Festival for 2007. After the initial postponement due to torrential weather conditions, we have made every possible effort to try and secure a new date for the festival this summer. Unfortunately, we cannot find a date that suits all parties and due to artist availability, we are not in a position to deliver the brilliant line-up of bands we always intended if we go ahead.
At this stage, we are left with no option but to cancel the festival for 2007 and put all our efforts into making it a huge success in 2008. We would like to thank all the people in the local community who have stuck by us and supported us throughout the past couple of months. For those who bought tickets, full refunds will be available from point of purchase.”*
What a bummer. Manic Street Preachers, Keane & Placebo were just some of the acts to be included on the stellar bill. Download some tracks from the bands below.

Say what you will (and I’m sure the haters amongst you slutloyals won’t hesitate) but Keane’s cover of U2′s signature single, ‘With Or Without You’, is rather charming and performed quite beautifully.
Played during a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session back in 2005, on the heels of Hopes + Fears rise to the top of the UK charts, Keane have deemed the track one of their favorite songs of all time. An MP3 of the one-off cover can be found below.
