This week, Alex Kapranos tweeted: “This http://www.latenightmcdonalds.com/ is an example of how a band falls out with their US label. Did they think we’d approve this shit? Dirty bastards. Stupid arrogant motherfucking pig-brained arseholes. I’d rather eat a cowpat on a bun than a bloody McDonalds. Not all labels are bastards. Domino aren’t. Just spoke to L Bell on the phone who knew nothing of it.”
Franz Ferdinand is featured on the new Alice In Wonderland soundtrack.

OMG! Today’s MySpace blog entry reads: Thanks again to the 2 nice men who got dressed into their fake police uniforms, put on their bullet proof vests, put their guns in their pockets, pulled us over, showed us their fake police ID, stole our money, hid our van keys and threw our passports onto the motorway. It was very much appreciated, I hope we can do it again sometime. We’ll get moonpig to make you a nice card. Fucking cunts.*

Last month, they chatted with Dirty Laundry.

He took to his Twitter account to declare his dismay (regarding ‘Ready For The Weekend’): *IT’S MY FUCKING SONG YOU ABSOLUTE BASTARDS. It’s the fucking BPI. FUCK YOU. What have you ever done for anybody you useless shower of cunts. The BPI are the worst organization to ever walk the earth, and their set-up is shambolic, and their online employees are all massive retards. This is unbelievable, and it seems I am completely powerless to do anything. Sony has done nothing, the BPI has done nothing. I’m going to drive my car into the big window in the BPI’s offices on my way to the studio this morning. I’m going to hire a 4×4 for the day so I make more of an impact, and hopefully reach the online monkeys at the back of the office.*
His sophomore LP will see daylight next month.

Oh no! This morning’s official statement reads: *Friends and associates, As you may have heard through the grapevine by now, Daptone was broken into last night. Unfortunately, there was a lot of equipment (mics, pre-amps, monitors, turntables, guitars, amps, computers, etc.) stolen and damaged. It is going to take us a while to go through everything and take full stock of what was stolen, and we are not supposed to touch anything until the cops come back to collect fingerprints so we can only guess what’s missing from some mic drawers and cabinets. And, no, we did not have insurance. We had been shopping around with different companies earlier this month but had not signed a check, so nothing was insured. We are working on replacing the gate in front, installing an alarm system, and getting insurance, but it is President’s day so it’s not going as quickly as we would have liked. Nydia’s computer was stolen (which wasn’t backed up) and the modems/phone system was ripped out, so we’ll be relatively out of commission for a few days. I would like to ask for everyone’s help first in keeping an eye out for all of our stuff showing up on ebay/craigslist/local music shops, and secondly (and more realistically) keeping an eye out for good deals on headphones, mics, pre-amps, etc. I could really use a heads up on any kind of studio package for sale or studio equipment to be possibly bought or borrowed as soon as possible. We have a session scheduled for Friday to lay down some music for (I know this sounds surreal) Rod Stewart, and I’m going to have to get the studio running by then. I know I’m going to need to find headphones, cables, mics, and pre-amps by then. I’m not sure what else yet.*

Oh no! The Sun reports: *Boy George was jailed for 15 months today after handcuffing a male escort to a wall and beating him with a metal chain. Sentencing the musician Judge David Radford told the singer (real name George O’Dowd) that he was guilty of “gratuitous violence”. Blank faced O’Dowd glanced briefly at family members in the public gallery, who gasped as his jail term was read out. Passing sentence, Judge Radford said: “In my view, there can be no doubt that your premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr. Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatized him. He was deprived of his liberty and human dignity without warning or proper explanation to him of its purpose, length or purported justification. You assaulted the victim of this offense whom you had invited into your home by handcuffing him to your bed and inflicting on him additional wholly gratuitous violence beyond that needed merely to secure physical restraint”.*
I guess this means he’s not returning to North American anytime soon.
