Morningwood Gives Update On LP2

The band offered these words earlier today: *We’ve been writing the follow up to our self titled record for some time, we wrote about 2 and a half records worth of songs, when we finally had enough that we deemed worthy of a sophomore effort. Right as we were getting ready to go into record there was a major merger between Capitol Records and Virgin Records, and pretty much everyone at Capitol was fired and most of the bands were dropped. To our delight, the powers that be wanted us to stay, but as the major labels have been struggling to stay alive they needed all bands to sign new record deals, ones which were only vaguely reminiscent of the original, and so for the past 6 months we have been trying to work it out. Believe me, it has been a major case of blue balls not being able to put these songs that we are so in love with out for you to hear. WELL, FINALLY we have come to an agreement! YAY! So we don’t lose ANYMORE time we are going into the studio next week, and so we can get you music as fast as possible we are going to release an EP in the next few months before the full record is finished, so you can have your first taste!*

Morningwood Tops LOGO’s Videos Of The Year!

Somehow the little band that could, Morningwood, makes it to the #1 position beating out MORRISSEY (scarilege!).

In other Morningwood news, if I hear ‘Nth Degree’ in one more retail store or commercial (it’s Subaru, correct?) I’m going to lose my mind! Does anyone else feel the same as I do?

See the rest of the MTV-owned gay cable channel’s list here!. You can also watch each one of their top 25 clips, including Sleater-Kinney, The Ark and The Gossip by following this link.

Morningwood Gives Irving Plaza A Hard-On

I must say, I was pretty impressed by Morningwood last night.

Having seen them open for one of those secret Scissor Sisters shows over the summer, I wasn’t thrilled in the slightest. The vocals were shotty, as were the songs and I wasn’t feeling the general statement the band was trying to make.

Understanding that they will probably wind up being an MTV flash-in-the-pan (all the tweens were in the front row with fists raised), and they are super silly, I can appreciate Morningwood in a different light.

Last night they put on a really fun show and even I was rooting for them.

The closing trio of Nth Degree-Take Off Your Clothes-Jetsetmusicletter was fantastic.

The band sounded tight throughout their 40-minute set, and the teasing/taunting of the crowd actually worked this time.

Apparently there are 3 kinds of audiences, according to Morningwood… ‘the tittie’, ‘the tittie’s nipple’ and ‘the bead of sweat on the titties nipple’.

Last night Morningwood declared us the bead, and I declare them not as shitty as I originally thought.
