Well, it’s been a busy old day on the music slut; 5 posts that have taken us from alt-country to Birmingham rock and back again (although technically, although it’s still the 9th for Jen and Matt, it’s actually now 1am on the 10th for me). Anyway, to complete our musical smorgasbord, here’s a bit of funk… somehow it seems to be appropriate for me to be posting this at this time of night, even if I am stuck in the office translating Horace…
Prince’s latest, 3121 has now leaked; due out on 21st March, it’ll be Prince’s 24th album in 28 years. That’s mighty. And this is funky; I’m not the biggest fan, but even I have to say that this has got me grooving my way around the (thankfully empty) office.

i’m back and have stories to bring you!!
on saturday night i had the privilege of being in the audience for a taping of snl and saw PRINCE!…(thank you katie for the hook-up!) he played twice and although i’m not the hugest prince fan, i will admit he sounded great. only did the new stuff though, blah!
before we got to nbc studios, my crew and i went over to PIANOS where we saw back-to-back-to-back experimental rock/avant garde performances. we witnessed OLIVE AND BLACKHAIR, ELECTROPUTAS and LONELY GHOST. ELECTROPUTAS was by far my fave, a sort of japanese noise mixed with something more friendly like an explosions in the sky or mogwai. i woulda snapped a few photos but knowing i was going over to saturday night live later in the evening, i knew better than to get my camera confiscated by bitchy security guards!
i also saw people in the planes do a fantastic acoustic set at the offices of spin magazine on thursday, those photos/words will be arriving on the site this week, i promise.
not all is dandy in this slut’s world, however, as my dog molly decided that a 30 gig ipod would act as a good treat this sunday. she completely destroyed it, wheel, case, battery, you name it. although i can’t blame her too much, after all she is a bitch and this is a good reason to get the video ipod, no?!
i can watch radiohead’s ‘just’ a million times now until i figure out what that guy is saying at the end! joy!!
