Sharon Jones is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, she just may also be the greatest living performer. I first discovered this simple truth last year at her mind boggling Beacon Theater gig. Nearly twelve months to the day, I’m thrilled to report that SJ & The Dap-Kings are still as entertaining, electrifying & downright magnificent as that unforgettable evening, if not more so. Showcasing a wide range of covers (including the highly appropriate albeit possibly overdone ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’), myriad selections from 100 Days 100 Nights & a handful of stellar new tunes, the soulful hundred minute set was nothing short of brilliant from start to finish.
