Ms. O’Connor tells Take 40: *”You’ll always have people singing other people’s songs, like you know, Rihanna for example - she hasn’t written that song (’Don’t Stop The Music’), do you know what I mean? In fact, I’ve been asked recently would I write some songs for her. So you know, zillions of people are singing other people’s songs every day! I actually have not the slightest idea (what I’m going to write). They want to send me some backing tracks that they’ve already put together so that’ll be a great help. But I’ve been studying her and I feel daunted actually by it because I don’t know how to write pop songs, no matter how hard I try I cannot write a pop song, you know. So it’s a challenge but I have to do it coz my son’s in love with her!”*
Following an invite from the Meteor Music Awards organizers, the Irish musicians will collaborate on a forthcoming single - a cover of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘We People (Who Are Darker Than Blue)’. They will perform the song live on February 15th (with a Dublin-based gospel choir!) and release the tune digitally on February 17th.

The former Stone Roses’ frontman’s new video explores the Iraqi War and all affected by it. Dare I say it’s his best solo tune in recent memory. Those background vocals you hear, are indeed from Sinead O’Connor (as you may have already predicted). Learn more about Ian Brown’s collaborators on his forthcoming LP, The World Is Yours, here. MP3 at bottom.

Waiting... One of the things that gets under my skin is having to wait for a music download to finish. I usually end up playing something silly, like online bingo or some other flash game, while I'm trying to kill some time. It's an easy way to kill 10 minutes while waiting.
