I woke up this morning to find a MySpace bulletin from The Stone Roses (fan-maintained page here) with the following content in the body: ‘Stone Roses myspace for sale… Offers?’
This MySpace profile (/stone roses) has nothing to do with the other profile for diehards attempting to reform the band (/reformtheroses). The latter were the ones that put up this curious message early last month.
Hmm, so in conclusion – is The Stone Roses ‘biggest fan’ out for a quick buck (perhaps multiple thousands of bucks…) or just a wise businessperson? You decide.
Hmm… MySpace community ‘Reform The Roses’ just posted this image alongside the bulletin title ‘RESURRECTION’ about fifteen short minutes ago (check out the page + blog entry here).
We have no idea if this date has any actual meaning or if it’s just wishful thinking from the hordes of Stone Roses diehards but we’re hoping there’s some truth to it!
Anybody know of any European festivals going on around this date? We’re keeping our fingers crossed tightly.
Via Tripwire: Stone Roses got the memo that 2007 was the year of reunions. The key members of the Manchester band have finally decided to get back together this weekend to play a charity gig.
According to Albumvote, it will happen at the Versus Cancer benefit taking place at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Friday, March 30. The former bass player from The Smiths, Andy Rourke, is the event’s organizer and in an interview with Music Week he stated, “Both Mani and Hooky are going to be doing something with Echo and the Bunnymen, Mani’s going to be doing something with Ian Brown, and the grand finale’s going to be quite special.”
If any of you lucky bastards are going, we want to hear about it!
He’ll really try anything to stay relevant, won’t he? I just hope the former Stone Roses frontman’s new album, The World Is Yours, is better than his last few solo projects, which have been extremely disappointing.
According to Ian, chatting to NME: “I started thinking about which songs I’d used in February to April last year, then I started on writing the music and working with my producers Black Ox, working on it all July, August… by October/November, I had a clear idea of what songs I wanted to do and then we went into the studio in December, so I’ve done a month now. I recorded with a 30-piece orchestra last week. It’s going to sound amazing!”
Rumor has it that he’s also been trying to get a hold of former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and Paul Friggin’ McCartney for some assistance on the new record. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Ian!
