Tonight is a great night if you love hype.
Or, a great night if you’d love to see if a band fails to MEET the surrounding hype garnered by a multitude of sources.
Your first option, Gnarls Barkley. Yes, if you read one more thing about them your eyes might fall outta your head. Well, get ready, the US invasion is just about to start. Their first trip to NYC is tonight at Webster Hall and it’s been sold out for weeks and weeks. I won’t bother you by posting ‘Crazy’ because you surely already have the song and more likely than not, already irritated by it.
Your second option: go to the Pitchfork-approved show tonight at the Mercury Lounge. Yes, Sunset Rubdown (aka: Wolf Parade side project) will be out and about for a trip to Houston Street. Other Music-ers will surely be out in full force.
Of course, if you get to the show early, you can check out the much much much blogged, Beirut. The Music Slut has yet to fall for the band, as Skye has pointed out in a recent post. Are we missing something big? As far as one-man bands go… gimme Final Fantasy any day.
OUR SUGGESTION: SEE ART BRUT @ SOUNDFIX FOR FREE (BUT GET THERE EARLY!!)
