Robbie’s Mum Says Take That Reunion ‘Will Happen’

Jan Williams, Robbie’s mom, tells Stoke Sentinal newspaper the following when asked about Robbie’s possible reunion with the pop band: “On the question of him doing something with them, I feel that will happen…

It would be something he wanted to do.

Furthermore, she adds: “He’s okay, he’s fine, he’s on a good recovery… He’s doing a lot of writing, he spends a lot of time in his studio. He’s in a very good place.”

Take That – The Musical!

Via NME: Take That are to create a musical around their songs. The show, called ‘Never Forget’, will tell the fictional tale of a Take That tribute band and include the Number One singles ‘Relight My Fire’, ‘Back For Good’ and ‘Pray’.

The story was created by Danny Brocklehurst, who has worked on’Shameless’ and ‘Clcoking Off’. In a statement, it is described as a “feelgood comedy about love, friendship, ambition and betrayal”. Producer Tristan Baker said: “We are the biggest fans of Take That’s music and we are so excited about the wonderful opportunity to create a new musical based on the fantastic catalogue of their work.

“We are looking forward to creating a legacy with these well loved songs in the way that shows such as ‘Mamma Mia!’ have done before.” The musical will be staged at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, Glasgow’s King’s Theatre, Manchester’s Opera House, Regent Theatre in Stoke-On-Trent and Edinburgh’s Playhouse before going to London’s West End, reports BBC News.

Oh jeezus!

Take that! And party!

News just in for the Robbie Williams-less, slightly chubbier 90s phenomenon…

Take That top both UK charts – for the first time in their career!

Yup, Barlow and the boys have managed to do something that eluded them back in their heydey; from the BBC:

Pop group Take That have topped the UK singles and album charts simultaneously for the first time in their career. The reformed band’s song Patience remained the number one single for the second week, while Beautiful World entered at one on the albums countdown.

Barlow is reported as describing it as “like a fairytale”.

In other UK chart news, the Fron Male Voice Choir made it into the top ten with Voices of the Valley

Ah; the UK. Land of the Beatles and Oasis. And Take That.

I’ll Believe It When I See It

According to professional arsehole, Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams is going to join Take That* on some of their reunion tour dates around Britain this Spring. Well according to Robbie’s book, Feel (yes I’ve read it get over it), hell will have to freeze over for him actually to do that. Despite Robbie’s continued protest, the NME is reporting that this is set to happen on some unspecified Take That concert dates.

What I found most amusing about the NME article was this bit of information:

As reported yesterday (April 23) on NME.COM, the four-piece kicked off their first jaunt since 1995 in Newcastle on Sunday (April 23) – and although Robbie couldn’t be with them in person, he joined them via a 10ft hologram for a version of ‘Could It Be Magic’.

You have got to be kidding me. A ten foot hologram of Robbie Williams hovering over the stage, towering above those poor boys who withered away after Take That? How freaking humiliating. I love it.

In other Robbie news, the support acts for his European dates have been announced. Basement Jaxx and The Ordinary Boys will be joining him. Robbie will be playing in 14 countries in 4 months to 2.6 million people. The European tour kicks off June 9th in Croke Park, Ireland.

*I don’t recall being a Take That fan when I was younger. Take That never really did make it over here in the States. We got a bit of ‘Back for good’ but that’s about it. I was, however, a huge New Kids on the Block fan at age eight. It was all about Donny Wahlberg, I loved the bad boys. Now I say that I don’t recall being a Take That fan but one day after I was in college, I was rummaging through my old school things when I came across a notepad. The notepad contained a list of all the actors and singers I thought were cute at about age 11 or 12. Nestled near the bottom of this list, written in multi-fluorescent coloured pens, was a very familiar name. Robbie Williams. Apparently, my taste in men hasn’t changed.

Download ‘Advertising Space’ here. It’s the second single from Intensive Care and is about the death of Elvis Presley. The song’s really beautiful and worth a listen.
