I’m speechless. What are your thoughts on this one?
RTE reports: *Rocker Pete Doherty has reportedly written a song for Amy Winehouse and presented it to her as a birthday present. According to the Daily Star, the Babyshambles star penned a track called ‘Amy on The Mend’ for Winehouse’s 24th birthday. Doherty reportedly framed the lyrics to the song and signed them ‘Love Pete’ before presenting the gift to his singer friend. A source told the newspaper: “Pete wanted Amy to have a lovely birthday as he knows she has been through a lot of late. So he wrote her a special song.”*

The Sun has the following quote and picture from Pete Doherty’s ‘good friend’. Do you buy it? “One in particular has borne the brunt of his drug abuse. Pete thinks it’s hilarious to get it wasted. He even made a special mini-crack pipe out of a bottle so it can get the maximum hit. But the kitten is starting to get really bad withdrawal symptoms. It has lost some of its balance and takes huge risks jumping over things that are too high. It thinks it can fly. It’s really distressing to see.” Download a Libertines MP3 at bottom of post.

Stoner of the century’s mum, Jacqueline Doherty, is quoted as saying the following to World Entertainment News last week regarding her son’s drug addiction: “Pete’s not ready to give up yet. He will have to hit rock bottom before he can rise up again”.
How much more rock bottom can it get, mom? Damn.
In related news, UK’s The Sun has conducted a poll to find the worst possible star to be trapped in the Big Brother house with, as voted upon by the general public. As you may have already guessed, Pete was declared ‘the celebrity flatmate from hell’. Yikes.

As expected, NME (and every other music news source for that matter) is up in arms today about a rumored reunion between Doherty, Barat & the rest of The Libertines gang at this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival.
To keep you updated, Carl & Pete entered a recording studio late last week to work on some (presumably) new tunes. UK rag, The Mirror, has the following quote regarding Glastonbury: “Pete and Carl are still arguing about what songs they’re going to perform… but whatever they settle on, it’ll be incredible.”
Normally, I’m skeptical about trusting NME, but all signs point to yes on this one.
Hooray!
