Video: The Lisps, ‘Are We at the Movies?’

Check out the beautiful new video from The Lisps for their single, ‘Are we at the movies’ off their upcoming album (out May 17th) of the same title. The loft where it was filmed is where the band has previously held their Secret Salons and it quite incredible.

The Lisps Are Back!

The Lisps are back this March with a brand new album called Are we at the Movies? I’ve been hearing songs live from this album over the course of the year and can attest how beautiful, fun and lyrical they are. Can’t wait to hear it in full. As a preview, check out below what has become one of my favorite live tracks from Are we at the Movies?, ‘Dreamhouse.’ The Lisps are on tour across many parts of the U.S. for the month of January, full tour dates after the jump.

The Lisps’ Secret Salon

Saturday night, we made our way over to the secret location, only issued to those who rsvp’d to The Lisps’ second salon. On the evening’s roster were the bands Art Sorority for Girls, Agent Ribbons and of course, The Lisps. As this was our second time attending the Salon, we knew what was in store- an evening of good music coupled with an easy, unpretentious and fun atmosphere in a space that can only be described as Alice in Wonderland meets The Old Curiosity Shop.

THE LISPS @ ARS NOVA: ARE WE AT THE MOVIES? YES YES YES

Last week, I was fortunate enough to catch a sneak preview of material from Movies – the forthcoming sophomore LP by The Lisps. As many of you are well aware, The Lisps have grown into one of my favorite local acts over the last few years. Their ability to craft a multi-instrumental, genre-bending, quirky & intelligent pop song continues to amaze me after all this time. Thankfully, Movies will feature more of the same wit & charm that I’ve come to know & love from the Brooklyn based quartet. Visit The Lisps on MySpace.

THE LISPS @ JOE’S PUB: THE MEANING OR THE MEDIUM

Futurity is a charming (yet ultimately tragic) musical focusing on all of the following topics and/or ideas: The Civil War, mathematics, philosophy, science, technology & imagination. I was fortunate enough to catch its first run back in January at The Zipper Factory. Last night marked Futurity‘s Joe’s Pub debut (you still have three more chances to catch the show before the end of May) and it was equally as glorious if not more so! Only The Lisps could put together something so endearing, amusing & affective with such inexplicable grace. And that’s why I love them. Visit The Lisps at their official MySpace page. Read my extensive Futurity based interview with each of The Lisps here.
