Happy Holidays indie record stores. The National are offering an expanded edition of its most recent album High Violet, which includes new studio tracks, b-sides and live recordings, for $7.99 (MSRP $16.98) exclusively at participating independent record stores the day after American Thanksgiving, ie, Black Friday. A day they are “trying to turn Violet” ho hum. You’ll find a map of independent record shops offering the album here and a weird but funny explanation of the whole thing below.
All of this is centered around Record Store Day, which takes place in mid April but this year is expanded to include the biggest shopping day of the year. Thus, in addition, The National will be rewarding fans who support indie record stores on Black Friday with a free mp3 download of “Terrible Love Alternate Version” from the expanded edition.
