Tell me, TELL ME, that this video does not seem like a “So long and thanks for all the fish” farewell to us, the long beleaguered Strokes fans, as well as to each other? Or do you see as MTV does, as their reentrance into the world as The Strokes and not a series of side-projects? Let’s hope for the latter. Regardless, the video is gorgeous and exudes the dirty rock, old world, fashionista aesthetic that is The Strokes.
The Strokes will be releasing their first single off their forthcoming album, Angles, in approximately two hours. They have a countdown clock on their site (little dramatic, huh?). The single, ‘Under cover of darkness,’ will be available for free for 48 hours, after which you will be able to purchase it from the usual culprits.

News also comes via Consequence of Sound’s keen eye and The Strokes management that the band are heading to SXSW. Will they be at The Fader Fort or making a midnight appearance at Stubbs, a la Metallica circa 2009? TMS will be heading down to SXSW and reporting on all the madness, we’ll let you know.

So confused. Is that The Strokes or Take That? ::rechecking press release for eighth time:: yup, it’s The Strokes whose new album Angles is out March 22nd (March 21st in the UK). This will be The Strokes’ fourth album and their first one since 2006′s First Impressions of Earth and we for one can’t wait.
The band are currently touring major festivals around the world, including headlining Coachella. The first single, ‘Under Cover of Darkness’ is to be released in February. Full track listing after the jump.
