IAN MCCULLOCH @ WEBSTER HALL’S STUDIO: THROUGH THE THICK & THIN

Last night, Echo & The Bunnymen’s legendary front man played an extremely intimate & acoustic mini-set in the wake of a recently canceled tour. While certainly not his best performance of all time, I felt honored to be in attendance for such a special gig (which closed with a stunning take on ‘The Killing Moon’). Many thanks to East Village Radio, Sheena Beaston & The Culture Of Me for organizing the evening! Last month, Ian McCulloch chatted with Noisevox. Visit Echo & The Bunnymen at their official site.

THE END OF THE WORLD @ THE STUDIO: COMING ALIVE

Last night marked my official introductions to The End Of The World’s glorious sophomore effort, French Exit & Webster Hall’s brand new 300 capacity venue, The Studio. The former was predictably incredible while the latter was surprisingly so. With a sound that brings to mind The Walkmen’s Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone, Pavement’s Crooked Rain Crooked Rain & The French Kicks’ One Time Bells, The End Of The World’s latest LP plays like an instant classic. Alluring, genuine & consuming, French Exit will surely be placed upon my shortlist of best Brooklyn based albums of the year. Visit TEOTW at their MySpace page. MP3 at bottom of post.
