Via Breitbart: *The Zimmers, a group of 40 elderly rockers with a combined age of more than 3,000 years, entered the British singles chart top 30 on Sunday.
Their charity cover of The Who’s rock anthem “My Generation”, with lead vocals by 90-year-old Alf Carretta, hit number 26 in the chart. The oldest band member is 100-year-old Buster Martin, who still works as a plumber in London and is believed to be the oldest employee in Britain.
Named after Zimmer frames — a British term for walking frames — the 40-strong group was formed as part of a BBC television documentary about the isolation felt among Britain’s elderly folk. Their video has been viewed more than 2.3 million times on the Internet video-sharing site YouTube.
The Zimmers also include Peter Oakley, better known as geriatric1927, whose video musings on life once made him the YouTube poster with the most subscribers. His video “first try” was watched nearly 2.6 million times and he is still the 10th most subscribed user ever.*
Don’t fret, there’s good reason behind it.
AOL Music reports: Fans of the Who left a Tampa amphitheater disappointed after lead singer Roger Daltrey walked off the stage during the band’s first song. Several minutes after Daltrey’s departure, guitarist Pete Townshend announced that Tuesday night’s show had been canceled. He told the crowd that Daltrey had bronchitis.
“I just talked to Roger and he can barely speak,” Townshend said. “I tried to get him to come out here, but he’s really, really sick.” The 9,000 people at the show cheered when Townshend told them the concert would be made up March 25.
I’m sure the make-up date will be undoubtedly fantastic but what a tease!

Announcing this year’s line-up, Daltrey said: “Over the years these shows have really made a massive difference to the money available to build TCT units in NHS hospitals. They also give our teenagers the moral support to help fight this terrible disease”.

Just in from The Tripwire: Mike Myers has decided to give the bad outfits and corny language some rest for a while in order to take on a new acting challenge. It was announced today that the Canadian has been named the actor that will play Keith Moon, the infamous drummer from The Who, in an upcoming film titled See Me Feel Me (Keith Moon Naked For Pleasure).
Myers was handpicked by The Who’s Roger Daltrey to play the part and according to Gigwise, the film’s co-producer Nigel Sinclair said, “Roger’s dream was to have Mike as the creative force to pull the project together.”
We’re kinda at a loss for words with this one.
And so are we! The film will be out in 2009. Personally I’d rather see Johnny Depp as Freddie Mercury!
