Mew can do no wrong. I’m thoroughly convinced of that. Last night’s ninety minute set was yet another outstanding one. Official TMS Rating: 10/10. Last month, I interviewed Mew. I strongly urge you to catch Mew on their North American trek. Watch ‘Repeater Beater’ here. Visit Mew at their official site.

With influences including Cocteau Twins, XTC, Slowdive & Phil Spector, it’s no wonder that my unwavering love for The Depreciation Guild has only grown stronger and stronger over the course of the last two years (since the release of their fabulous debut album: In Her Gentle Jaws). Their shoegaze meets prog meets dream-pop sound is truly stunning to witness in a live setting (a brilliant light show doesn’t hurt either!). Saturday evening’s gig was breathtaking, as per usual. Last month, we premiered the Baroness reinterpretation of ‘Sky Ghosts’. Watch The Depreciation Guild’s official clip for ‘Dream About Me’ here. Be certain to visit TDG on MySpace.

Yup, the band performed their classic album in its entirety. And it was amazing. Truly. Seeing such loved musicians in front of their hugest fans, many of whom came from afar to see the show, was a real joy to behold. And of course seeing “Closer,” “Hurt,” and “Head Like a Hole” as a person who grew of age in the 90′s was incredible.

The crowd waiting for NIN
The process to get into Webster Music Hall was a bit arduous, waiting on line at 4:30pm for a wristband, then joining another line to get into the venue, but over all it was run very well. Just as what happened at Bowery the night before, there was a group here who slept out overnight to secure a close spot. I chose a corner near the bar on the right, the room with a/c because as expected, the venue was ridiculously hot. I was covered in sweat after the show and unfortunately, most of it was not mine. Disgusting. The venue management eventually realized that it might not be the safest of conditions and began to hand out waters. Perhaps if Mr. Reznor had spoken more than a few words, he would have mentioned the heat just as Clipse did a few weeks before. The front man was pouring sweat.
